Dear Senator Byrd,
During Judge Alito's confirmation hearing, it became clear that the "little guy" would have a hard time getting a fair shake in his courtroom. Given the recent tragedies in the West Virginia coal mines, there are bound to be numerous lawsuits that could potentially make their way up to the Supreme Court.
You have stated you intend to vote in favor of Judge Alito's confirmation. Is this the gift you want to leave the families of those whose lives were lost? Do you trust that Sam Alito will give regular men and women a fair chance in his courtroom? I am not convinced that is possible with him on the court. He has ruled time and time again in favor of corporations over hard working americans. If this is the kind of judge you believe hard working West Virginia's want and deserve on the high court, then I would recommend you not run for re-election.
